Those of you who follow me on social media (Facebook, Instagram and the VALINOR Boutique Instagram page) will have hopefully have seen a couple of live images of the bead yesterday on a bangle combination I was wearing. As everyone predicted there is absolutely enormous variation to be seen with this stone. They vary from crystal clear examples to milky opaque colours and then all the way down in shade to very deep golden hues. The bead I received is precisely what I’d hoped for; absolutely clear with a citrine colouring and a lot of rutile. It’s absolutely radiant in the sunshine. The following are comparison images by Joseph Welch so please do not reproduce.

Trollbeads Golden Rutilated Quartz Summary

My initial thoughts on the bead (based on the sample that arrived here,) are that it is very, very pretty. The sheer sparkle you get in the sunlight is beautiful and the facets (which are apparently hand cut for this design,) are precise and clean. I will admit I don’t dabble a great deal in artisan beads so it would be difficult for me to compare but I do still appreciate many objecting to the price point of this piece.

This will be a bead to shop for via live images as the variation is enormous and the retail price is such that you wouldn’t want to be disappointed. Fortunately I do think most retailers will appreciate this too. It’s easy to see from the images above that there isn’t merely variation in the clarity but also in the colouring. I know I very specifically wanted a pale, clear version and would have absolutely no idea what to do with the darker, almost honey coloured beads.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What are your thoughts on the Trollbeads Golden Rutilated Quartz after seeing live images? Will you be indulging in this bead? Hit the comments and let me know!
