This Redbalifrog blog brings a little inspiration for the Redbalifrog Dragon Lock, fully compatible with Trollbeads bracelets.

It’s been years since I originally reviewed the Redbalifrog Dragon Lock and it’s one of my favourite lock designs. I promised to revisit some classic Redbalifrog designs over the summer and with both the recently launched True Beadz Dragon Shadow collection and their upcoming dragon themed July release, now feels the perfect opportunity.

Nearly all Redbalifrog locks are compatible with Trollbeads bracelets and they’re generally larger and sturdier. This is great for those who have been unhappy with the ever more diminutive size of the Trollbeads clasps. The Dragon Lock is 2.6cms in length and is fully compatible with both Trollbeads leather and silver bracelets. It retails at $76, €70.50 or £62.50 which is really quite expensive for Redbalifrog. Given the size though, it easily justifies the retail price.

Redbalifrog Dragon Lock

For me this is the best dragon themed lock available. Locks add finishing touches to a themed bracelet so I wanted to showcase this piece ahead of the True Beadz July launch. Due to the fact the design focuses purely on the head, there’s room to focus on some beautiful detailing without it feeling overly cramped or busy. This is a lock I wear alone without additional beads on a bracelet as it’s such a focal piece in it’s own right.

For the showcase bracelet I wanted to draw together my Redbalifrog dragon themed silver beads. I’ve also included the Ohm Beads Hatching. Though this actually launched as part of the Rawr series of dinosaur themed beads, it works so well on dragon bracelets. The glass is a mix of the new True Beadz Shadow and their Dragon Eyes design. The latter is so striking and I love the mix of vibrant colours with the organic bands. Redbalifrog Dragon Lock Summary

I lusted over this lock for a long time before I added it to my collection and it has always remained the definitive dragon themed lock for me. If you like your clasps a little cuter, there’s also the Trollbeads Dragon Lock though the vibe is entirely different.

The only issue I have ever had with Redbalifrog locks is in opening the small end. Some are incredibly stiff and I have actually broken a couple of nails in the past trying to open them. On the other hand they feel reassuringly heavy and I’ve certainly never had one open of it’s own accord.
