My June Ohm Beads reviews are running a little late due to the slow arrival of samples from that release. Apologies for that! I know it may seem a little peculiar that I reviewed the Coffee Collection (Bead of the Month for July 2017,) ahead of Heart of Stone (June’s Bead of the Month.)
Heart of Stone saw a blind distribution policy though there was a lot of drama surrounding serial code cracking. Three variations were ultimately produced; all silver (though with a matte brushed, high shine contrast,) brushed exterior with a dirty inner and dirty exterior with a high shine silver inner. There’s been a huge amount of discussion regarding the rarest version but Ohm Beads USA have opted not to clarify that.

The bead retails at $140, €130 or £117 and is compatible with either the bracelet, bangles or Ohm Beads Ball Necklace. A total of one thousand one hundred and eleven (1111) were produced and the bead is encased within a concrete block. Want to see how I opened one of mine? You can still check that out below. Ohm Beads Heart of Stone
Of my own two beads I managed to get both of the dirty versions (so dirty exterior, high shine inside and brushed outside, dirty inside.) As these were the two I really wanted, I didn’t bother trying to get the all silver version for my own collection. Though there’s a possibility I’ll regret that later! Heart of Stone is a large and focal sized piece though it’s not so big as to look peculiar worn on the wrist.
I’ll openly admit that I’m not generally a hearts and flowers kind of girl but I do like this design. Why? Simply because I tend to appreciate hearts that look a little battered, bruised or generally abused. Life and love bring so much heartache after all. I also tend to be a very distant person anyway when it comes to personal relationships so the version with the dirty outside and silver inside felt apt for me. I like the idea that as we grow, we often build walls around our own feelings as a mode of self preservation. There’s always that one person that chips away at those and this is how I view the design. It’s not a fluffy, perfect heart. It’s representative of life for most of us.

When I sat down to create a bracelet to showcase these beads, I knew I wanted to include the Ohm Beads Weeping Warrior. I still feel this design is so underused and yet I enjoy mine. For reference you can still find it here at VALINOR Boutique. Ignoring the meaning behind the Heart of Stone design, I always love a contrast between high shine and oxidised silvers and I wanted to emphasise that. I opted to add my two versions of the Ohm Beads Luna and my dirty Ohm Beads Hive Mind. By the time all of these were sat on my desk, there wasn’t a huge amount of room remaining on the bracelet. Ultimately I decided to create something I never feature on my blog; an all silver combination.

Ohm Beads Heart of Stone Summary
There are two different elements at play with Heart of Stone. Design wise I thought the bead was worth the retail price. It’s a large, focal size, very similar to Open Your Heart.

On the other side collectors were still paying for a blindly distributed bead so there was no guarantee of receiving the version they wanted. I personally enjoy the blind distribution but I do appreciate not everyone feels the same way. Actually I enjoy most of Ohm’s marketing as I feel it’s completely changed the charm bracelet world. Mike has already mentioned there is likely another Bead of the Month before the end of 2017 that will also see blind sales.
