This Ohm Beads blog alerts readers to the launch of the Ohm Beads August 2017 collections! A complete overview plus ordering links are included.

Happy release day! Though yesterday saw the launch of the Ohm Beads Sol (and remember you could still be lucky and acquire one by reading this post,) the most of the new charms are debuting today. It’s quite an apt series of beads for the last of the summer season. There are insects for those still enjoying their summer gardens (or the quirkier ones amongst us.) There’s Lemon for a splash of really bright colour. Sun Dragon is launching as the Bead of the Month and in honour of the upcoming solar eclipse. Finally there’s Potato Potato, which admittedly wouldn’t be described as a typically seasonal design but this is Ohm and it’s fun.

For those of you who have missed the coverage thus far, you’ll find a complete overview below. Ordering links are of course included.

Ohm Beads Sun Dragon

The Sun Dragon is the Bead of the Month and designed for the US coast to coast solar eclipse. It depicts a sun eating dragon, a popular image in Asian mythology and retails at $70, €65 or £58. It’s compatible with either bracelets, bangles or the Ohm Beads Ball Necklace.

I received my Sun Dragon a couple of days early and I was pleasantly surprised by the size. It’s very rare that I can say that about Ohm Beads. The charm is slender of course but it’s height is greater than I initially assumed. I’ll be working on studio images this week but do be sure to follow me on social media (Facebook and Instagram) as I’ll be sharing some live images there today. It’s not focal bead sized but it’s beautifully detailed and large by Ohm’s usual standards.

This charm sold out at most retailers very quickly but Exclusive Bead Store and Joseph Welch, both in the UK have stock remaining.

Ohm Beads Lemon

Lemon is the latest limited edition glass bead and just like Strawberry (review here) before it, it has a pitted surface. It’s retailing at $35, €34 or £30.

Unfortunately Lemon wasn’t amongst my latest samples but I’m going to guess there isn’t huge variety in these beads (and it’s probably safe to order from stock images.) For those who missed Sol, Lemon should be a good compromise (and imagine one either side of the Sun Dragon on a bangle!) Looking a little further ahead, it has the potential to be a lovely bead for the fall season when the foliage starts to change colour.

Ohm Beads Insects

I have to admit, I haven’t been enamoured by this series from the earliest previews. The individual charms are the Scarab ($65,) Grasshopper ($50,) Crickets ($50,) Caterpillar ($70) and Ants with Glitter ($56.)

Once again I was surprised by the size of these beads. They’re considerably larger than I had predicted. The Scarab is focal sized but where I had assumed the Caterpillar would be more a spacer, it’s actually a larger charm.

Ohm Beads Potato Potato

Potato Potato retails at $90 and again it’s a larger bead with a splash (or cube) or gold.

I still can’t get beyond thinking of this bead for Bonfire Night and that definitely shows I’m still British at heart (despite the fact I haven’t spent November the 5th in the UK for over ten years.)

Ohm Beads Ordering Details

I’ve detailed individual ordering links for the Sun Dragon above, here’s the more general list of all my retail partners:-

Ohm Beads August 2017 Collection Summary

The highlight of this release for me is the Sun Dragon. Insects have always ruined summer for me so I don’t feel inclined to wear them on my wrist (though the detailing on them is impressive.) The one exception is the Caterpillar who will crawl his way onto an Alice in Wonderland themed bracelet eventually.

Mike has already confirmed the October Bead of the Month will see blind distribution. A partial preview will happen on August the 9th (so there’s not too long to wait for that.) The remaining October designs will be unveiled on August the 17th.

The Bead of the Month for September is of course Kamasutra with the remaining releases being Unicorny, Baby Argh, Chi Chi Sticks 2.0, Yellowstone and the Ohm Rings.

As always I love to hear from my readers. What is your favourite design from the August releases? Did you pre-order any of these charms? Hit the comments and let me know!
